  • In Rep - January 27-30, 2023
Kick off the new year with a delightful variety of performances In Rep at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. First up is Frequency Hurtz, a world premiere from Company Dancer Arcadian Broad, who also co-composed the music. The second selection is Shades of Spring, set to the classical music of Joseph Haydn, and choreographed by Jessica Lang. Closing out the program is Façade, featuring whimsical vignettes from noted choreographer Sir Frederick Ashton.

  • Dance Theatre of Harlem - February 24-27, 2023
Experience one of the most vibrant and exciting dance companies in the world when the Dance Theatre of Harlem takes the stage at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. Founded in 1969, the group is known for its blend of dance classics and contemporary, ballet-based routines. The 18-member company carries on their tradition of innovative, forward-thinking dances for the 21st century.

  • La Sylphide - March 24-25, 2023
La Sylphide, a timeless story of romance, takes on fresh life with this performance by the Sarasota Ballet. The narrative recounts the quandary of a Scottish man who is engaged to a local woman but becomes distracted by a vision of a sylph. Designed by Johan Kobberg, the production is acclaimed for retaining the original Danish feel while rejuvenating the choreography. The program takes place at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

  • Tribute to Balanchine - April 28-29, 2023
Iconic choreographer George Balanchine revolutionized dance with innovations that remain influential to this day. The Sarasota Ballet commemorates the 40th anniversary of his passing with a triple bill of some of his more beloved ballets, held at the Sarasota Opera Hall. First up is Divertimento #15, set to the music of Mozart. Next, The Four Temperaments takes on the ancient Greek theory of "four humours" comprising a healthy body. The program closes with Western Symphony, a charming tribute to the popular "Spaghetti Westerns" and cowboy adventures of the 1950s.

  • Gala Royale - April 30, 2023
Show your support and appreciation of the Sarasota Ballet by attending this year's Gala Royale. The evening begins with a specially curated performance on the stage of the Sarasota Opera House. Afterward, the party moves to the Circus Arts Conservatory, where guests will dine on a gourmet meal catered by Michael's on East. Desserts and dancing close out this evening to remember. Guests may attend individually or purchase tables for six to 10 attendees. The event starts at 5 p.m.

  • Images of Dance - May 2, 2023

Why You Should Add Plants to Your Home for National Houseplant Appreciation Day

houseplant tips

It's impossible to overstate all the benefits that houseplants bring into our lives. And with National Houseplant Appreciation Day coming right up on January 10, our real estate agents are here to sing the praises of indoor greenery.

Whether your houseplants of choice are frilly ferns, spikey snake plants, vibrant orchids, or low-maintenance cacti, there's no denying that a little greenery adds a lot of life to your living space. These are just a few of the benefits houseplants provide:

  • Plants Can Boost Your Mood
Having plants around just makes people happy. This study from 2015 showed that interaction with indoor plants reduced psychological and physiological stress among young adults.

  • They Can Also Boost Your Productivity
As Time Magazine reported, studies have shown that employees who work in offices with lots of plants often feel better about their jobs, take fewer sick days, and are generally more productive. That's a great reason to take a plant or two with you to work, but the same logic applies to your home, especially if you work remotely all or part of the time.

  • Plants May Help You Sleep
Healthy oxygen levels are important for getting a good night's rest, as this study on supplemental oxygen during sleep demonstrates. And if there's one thing plants are good at, it's making oxygen! Areca palm, snake plant, aloe vera, and pothos are among the houseplants that produce the most oxygen and even continue to do so after the sun goes down at night.

  • Plants Can Improve Indoor Air Quality
All houseplants create oxygen, but some, including English Ivy and asparagus fern, actually help clean and purify the air we breathe. Many plants also add moisture to the air, which can make being indoors feel a lot more comfortable during the dry winter months. Good humidifying houseplants include the most common varieties of palms and ferns.

  • Some Plants Provide Allergy Relief
Houseplants have been shown to reduce the amount of airborne dust in living spaces. They do this by trapping dust as it settles on the plants' leaves and by releasing moisture, which combines with dust particles to make them heavier and settle to the ground more quickly. The most effective plants are those with fuzzy or hairy leaves, like bear paw jade and angel's hair artemisia, and those that emit the most moisture, like a spider plant and peace lily.

  • Many Herbs Have Health Benefits
Keeping a living herb garden in your kitchen is a great way to enliven your space while also keeping tasty herbs handy for cooking at all times. And many of the herbs you can grow at home have real health benefits. Mint has been shown to be good for digestion, while basil is anti-inflammatory for many people. Sage may improve memory and brain function, and rosemary contains rosmarinic acid, which has been shown to suppress allergic responses and reduce nasal congestion.

At this point, the benefits of houseplants are scientifically proven. Of course, before you can fill your house with plants, you need to find the right home for them! That's where we come in. We're here to help you find the perfect Bradenton homes for sale and Sarasota homes for sale.

6 Ways Our Agents Can Help You in 2023

2023 Real Estate Tips

When you're ready to purchase a home, you might wonder how our real estate agents can make the process as stress-free and simple as possible. Here are a few important ways our team can help you in 2023.

  1. We Can Help You Get the Best Possible Price
Our real estate agents will discuss your homebuying budget and what traits you want your future home to have. Then, we'll look for Bradenton homes for sale or Sarasota homes for sale that fit your needs and make sure that your offer is reasonable when compared to the home's fair market value. We use data from comparable home sales and current market trends to ensure that you don't overpay for your new home.
  1. We'll Save You Time
There are a lot of tasks involved with purchasing a home, like looking for potential properties, scheduling open houses, arranging for home inspections, and negotiating with the seller. We can put more hours back into your day by handling or expediting many of these tasks. For example, we can recommend a reputable home inspector so that you don't waste time trying to find someone to inspect your potential home.
  1. We Have Access to Tools to Assist With the Buying Process
Real estate agents have access to helpful tools, like the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). MLS is a valuable resource with lots of information, like notifications about new listings, open houses, and pricing changes. This makes it easier for you to stay updated about potential properties and uncover info that will impact your decision to make an offer on a home.
  1. We Understand the Local Real Estate Market
Since we've handled a lot of properties in your real estate market, we understand the nuances of the neighborhood or city where you want to purchase a property. This experience and knowledge assist us with finding a property that suits your needs and making a competitive offer.
  1. We Can Help You Evaluate a Potential Home
A lot of properties look good on the surface, but when you delve into the details, you might discover that the home isn't right for your lifestyle. We know what characteristics you should consider when deciding if a property is meant to be your next home.
  1. We'll Work to Negotiate a Strong Deal
When you make an offer on a home, the offer includes several details, like the price, closing period, info about what items come with the property, and clauses that can protect you in case the seller receives a stronger offer or the home fails an inspection. We'll make sure that your offer is competitive while fulfilling your needs. If you're struggling to reach a deal with a home seller, we'll do whatever we can to salvage the deal.

If your plans for 2023 involve buying a home, it's important to have the knowledge and experience of one of our real estate agents. Contact us to learn more.
